According to a recent World Bank study, with 99% of children under age six enrolled in school, Jamaica has the highest pre-school enrollment rate in Latin america and the Caribbean.
By any standard this is a great achievement!
The challenge for educators and NGOs like Reading Owls is to figure out how to translate this enrollment success into improved literacy levels, higher exam pass rates, stellar graducation rates, and overall readiness for life.
Reading Owls International is committed to increasing the literacy levels of Jamaican school-aged children. We will do so by providing books and learning resources to schools and other organizations to expand existing libraries or to create new ones.
Together, we can ensure that students are reading their way to a brighter future!
